Hurt on the job? Chiropractic care for work injuries is covered by worker’s compensation insurance in both Oregon and Washington. In Oregon, chiropractors are allowed to be attending physician and treat an injured worker for 18 visits or 60 days from the date of the first visit, whichever comes first. In Washington, doctors of chiropractic must give updated assessments to the Department of Labor and Industries every 60 days. Payment for both states is made upon the determination that an on the job injury occurred. Commonly, a decision is made based upon statements given by the injured worker, the employer, and the treating doctor.
As a courtesy to our patients, our office is willing to bill worker’s compensation and wait for payment with the reasonable assumption that payment will be forthcoming. However, all medical / chiropractic services would ultimately be the responsibility of the patient.
